To complete a vehicle title transfer, the following are required:
The original title, signed by the seller
Valid vehicle insurance
Valid photo ID of the new owner, which can be any of the following:
U.S. Driver Licence/ID Card
Passport
U.S. Employment Authorization Document or U.S. Permanent Resident Card
Current Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR)
No more than 90 days old
Only required in you reside in an Emmisions County (Brazoria, Collin, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Ellis, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Johnson, Kaufman, Montgomery, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Travis, Williamson).
Note: The inspection is not required if the vehicle is:
25 years or older, or
Equipped with a diesel engine
Under normal circumstances, it takes about 3 to 4 business days to receive your plates. The cost varies depending on the type of vehicle and the specific service you need. We recommend visiting one of our offices with your documents so we can give you an accurate quote and guide you through the process. 📬 Important: The vehicle title will be mailed to the address you provide. This process can take between 2 to 6 weeks, depending on state processing times.
Absolutely! We can help you transfer the vehicle without the original title. To begin the process, we’ll need:
Valid photo ID
The vehicle's VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
If you also want to obtain Texas registration and plates, you’ll need to provide:
Valid vehicle insurance
A current vehicle inspection
